As a Residential Site Lead, you will manage our collaborative care team of Residential Key Workers to provide a high standard of care to our students. You will be responsible for fostering a positive environment for the delivery of the waking day school curriculum and ensuring high quality documentation. You will be supervising and supporting your team to work with students in a proficient and sensitive manner that will enhance both their academic and social development.

Your day to day duties will include:

  • Working flexibly across the site and the residential houses to manage the delivery of a comprehensive care programme appropriate to the individual students.
  • Safeguarding and promoting the health and welfare of the students, ensuring that they are cared for and supported in the residential house by a team of professional Care staff, following the guidelines as laid down by legislation, the current National Minimum Care Standards for Residential Special Schools, professional care practice and NCW's policies and procedures.
  • Line managing the Residential Key Workers, setting objectives, monitoring performance, completing regular supervisions and appraisals, and ensuring accurate and professional records are kept in accordance with College policies. Collaborating with College and senior Care staff to allocate Key Workers to students, ensuring this aligns with College structures.
  • Being responsible for quality assuring Care plans, Risk Assessments, Key working and Support Session notes, and other paperwork as may be directed, to a high standard in accordance with published quality assurance deadlines. Highlighting issues to senior Care management.

  • Working in collaboration with the College to manage the delivery of the waking day curriculum and liaising with education staff over student progress. The waking day curriculum includes developing students' independent living skills, involving amongst others: skills training in personal hygiene, nutrition and self-catering, general skills required in managing money and personal safety. It also includes support with mobility, homework and developing effective morning and evening routines.
  • Managing, co-ordinating and participating in the delivery of activities both on and off the College campus in evenings and weekends, and providing and encouraging access to a range of leisure pursuits and to new opportunities beyond the NCW community.
  • Liaising with Care and Education staff, other College staff, parents and external partners and agencies in a professional manner in order to achieve a comprehensive approach to the students' development. Taking responsibility for creating and developing strong links between home and College and maintaining contact with parents through face to face or online meetings, email and telephone.
  • Supporting the student in coming to terms with the effect of vision and other impairments, and managing Care staff to be able to effectively achieve this outcome. Ensuring trusting relationships are developed between them, their staff and students, whilst respecting professional boundaries.
